Hi folk!

My name is Alex and my pronouns are they/them. I am a queer author working on my first novel and it’s set mostly in the Twin Cities and the surrounding areas. I’m a transplant to Minnesota and I’ve fallen in love with the Midwest and think the setting is perfect for the stories I am telling. I have a deep love of folk lore and fairy tales and MN and its surrounding states have struck me as being places that are home to some ancient and awe inspiring beings. In other news, while I have multiple books series planned for the Cosmic Fate series, queer Midwest mysteries with monsters are not the only type of books I write. I have been working on a historical (very queer) book series for years and want to get the research right! And there are also some stand alone novels to come. My stories include a lot of queer characters and have a diverse cast because I believe that fiction should reflect life. There may not be vampires and monsters in our world but they are often a stand in for the human monsters we encounter everyday. If we can account for monsters in fiction I think we should include the realism of the beautiful diversity of this world. 

 

The inspiration for my stories come from many different influences, including my education in philosophy, my background in theology and world religions, as well as the experiences I have gained from my professional and personal life. Of course some of the best parts of the stories come from asking “what if…” and the mundane becomes fantasy. Anyway, come with me as these stories unfold and the characters take on a life of their own.
